Official Version.
Vladamir Putin was born to factory worker parents in Lenningrad (now St Petersburg) on October 7th,1952 Vladamir Vladimirovich Putin was raised in social housing as an only child after his 2 brothers died in childhood,one at birth and one during the 900 day Nazi Seige.His Mother Maria had Vladamir secretly baptised as an Orthodox Christian and he is now a practicing member of the Church.
As a Teenager Vladamir Putin was chosen to attend a school for Lenningrads most intelligent students,where he excelled gaining a keen interest in martial arts of which he became a black belt.Vladamir had a keen and inquisitive mind which he put to use involving himself in political and current affair groups.A quiet and methodical student Vladamir went on to attend Lenningrad State University to study civil law.He became Lenningrads judo champion in 1974 and graduated from university in 1975.On completing his education he was offered a position within the KGB.He was sent to and trained in Moscow,studying languages becoming fluent in German,in 1985 he was sent to East Germany to spy on NATO members nations living undercover and taking the name "Adamov" working as the director of Soviet-German House of Friendship.
In 1989 with the collapse of the Berlin wall and reunification of Germany,Vladamir returned to Russia taking a position within his old University in Lenningrad reaquainting himself with his old professor Anatoly A Sobchak,chairman of the city council becoming his aide and helping Sobchak win the 1991 mayoral race.Putin left the services of the KGB in 1996 when Sobchak lost the 1996 reelection campaign.Putin went on to join President Boris Yeltsins administration at the Kremlin before being appointed to Head the Federal Security Bureau in 1998.
Yeltsin named Putin Russian Prime minster on August 1999.Putin was the 5th person to hold the position within a year and a half.Four months after Putins appointment President Yeltsin Resigned and named Putin as his successor.Open elections were later held in Russia,Putin Supported by his wife Lyudmila which he married in the 80s and his 2 teenage daugthers Katya and Maria ran away with the Russian Presidential election becoming Russias second democratically elected President.Putin went onto to place many ex KGB colleagues into high ranking positions within his goverment and went to work cracking down on Chechneya and trying to support and uplift the Russian Economy.Putin had inherited many problems within Russia ranging from crime gangs to corruption within its infastructure.Putin has played his political hand skillfully in the international arena and with the improvement of the Russian economy and Chechen conflict Putin was relected for a second Presidential term in March 2004.
Putins Family and early life has been patchy and sketchy at best the official version out of the Kremlin is that Putins Father died in 1996 and that his mother had died 6 months previously.The official death statements made journalists suspicious,whom later went on to trace Putins mother Vera Putyna aged 73 to Georgia s Kaspi-Metehi village.Putins Mother stated "I am not dead,i am alive".
Newspapers reported that secret service agents arrived at the village before the journalists and instructed the villagers to be quiet about Putin.Villagers knew Putin as Vova and this is how his mother called him.Putin lived in the village between the ages of 3 to 10.
Vera Putin said that she was born and raised in the Urals and that the man she met at technical school became Vovas (Putins) father.Vera Putin left him after finding out that he was already married when she was expecting a baby and that Vova went to live with her mother and father.She continued her education at Tashkent and met Gyorgi Osepasvilli a Soviet Army serviceman.They got married and moved to Metehi village.Her mother brought Vova at the age of 3 to Metehi.She says her husband was unwilling of Vova and her will of togetherness with her son,she returned to Georgia for her daughters and kept them superior to Vova.
Her Fathers illness caused her mother to give the child to nursery.Her husbands sister took Vova to Tifilis,The Georgian capital and gave him to the wife of an army captain.She went to Tifilis and took him back.Her husband and his sister did everything possible to seperate them and finally they succeded.
Putins mother says and even more interesting that the "KGB came and took Vovas photographs and instructed me not to talk about my son".

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - At least four car bombs exploded in Baghdad on Wednesday, killing at least 26 people and wounding 21, the U.S. military said.
The military said a car bomb attack near the Australian embassy killed two Iraqis. A car bomb near a hospital half an hour later killed 18, including five Iraqi police, it said.

A third car bomb killed two Iraqi security guards near Baghdad's international airport, and a fourth killed two civilians and two Iraqi soldiers at a military complex in Baghdad.

The U.S. military said the loss of life could have been worse if security forces had not responded so quickly.

"All of these car bombers were stopped by security forces before they could reach their intended targets," said Lieutenant-Colonel James Hutton of the 1st Cavalry Division in Baghdad. "While the any loss of life is tragic, it could have been a lot worse."

RAMADI, Iraq, Jan 19 (Reuters) - Clashes broke out in three areas of the western Iraqi city of Ramadi on Wednesday after insurgents fired rocket-propelled grenades at a U.S. patrol, witnesses said.

U.S. forces backed by at least 10 armoured vehicles reinforced positions as helicopter gunships and warplanes flew over the eastern part of the city, an area that has witnessed frequent fighting.

There was no immediate word on casualties but witnesses said the guerrillas destroyed a U.S. Humvee and civilians were caught up in the fighting.

The Ramadi fighting came after insurgents detonated a suicide truck bomb outside Australia's embassy in Baghdad and hit Iraqi security targets with at least three car bombs, killing 26 less than two weeks before Jan. 30 elections.

U.S. Marines captured the former rebel bastion of Falluja in November but guerrillas continue to mount attacks from a stronghold in Ramadi, 110 km (68 miles) west of Baghdad.

Insurgents have stepped up bombings and assassinations ahead of the polls, which they believe are heavily influenced by the interim Iraqi government's American allies.

Why is the American flag placed backwards on the uniforms of U.S service personnel in Iraq?
Symbols play an important subconscious part in all our lives and to some degree affect us individually,communally,socially and nationally.From Christians with the crucifix,to logos on the companies that we work for or brand names placed on consumer goods.Each symbol is a statement in what we associate with and has an underlying meaning.A nations flag is no different reflecting the values of the citizens of that country,the flag being a rallying point and unifying factor for all the people under it,honoured and respected both domestically and internationally.The American flag was formed through a war of independance against the British and a civil war which in time led to the creation of the constitution and the bill of rights.The American flag being made up of red and white stripes and stars representing the individual states situated in the top left.The flag represents Americas past struggles and has always denoted truth,justice,virtue,morality,freedom and the American way.The opposite of these is dishonesty,injustice,immorality and slavery.On every soldiers uniform in Iraq there is an American flag and every flag is backwards the stars are situated top right.Does this have a meaning? The nations flag represents honour,why wear it backwards surely that is sacrilege to an American.Would a Christian rally round an inverted cross ? or a corporation invert its own logo ? or the consumer product brandnames be printed backwards? surely not as it would degrade those products and associations giving them a very different meaning.
Next time you view Photographs from Iraq take a closer look at the soldiers uniforms,every uniform has a flag sewn into it and every flag is backwards.
I do not know the reason as to why the flag is backwards,maybe Americans should be asking that question.
I would appreciate readers views and comments with regard to this issue.

Iraq War casualties

From the Pentagon as of January 14th 2005,figures have been released at some 1361 U.S personnel killed and just over 10,000 wounded from the Iraq war and occupation.Is this a true reflection of the actual casualties or a manipulation of the figures ? The Iraq war from its inception was domestically and internationally unpopular especially as it went specifically against the will of the United Nations regarding pre-emptive war on the grounds of so called WMDs.The first casualty of war is always the truth.The war itself was instigated by the Neoconservatives in the U.S and it is they who control the Pentagon and military administration,Mr Rumsfield and Mr Wolfowitz themselves have control of the information flow out of Iraq,that will be inclusive of casualty figures released by Centcom.Is it in their interest to manipulate casualty flows ? In my opinion, most definately,purely on the reasons that the higher the casualties the greater the resolve of Americas domestic population, starting to not only question the Iraq invasion but also the occupation and the reasons why America is still in Iraq,a hardening of public opinion against occupation and grounds to call the troops home.The greater the casualties the louder the voices will become to withdraw.This will in effect forclose on the PNAC doctrine of pre-emptive wars around the world,which is the Neocons dream.Much is at stake for them.The true casualty figures will only be known by those at the Pentagon and a few selected personnel.Gauging previous articles and statements made from various individulas and organisations since March 2003,casualty figures can be pieced together to give a truer reflection on what the real cost in servicemans lives are.
In November 2003 a Surgeon at the Ramstein medical base in Germany stated that it had received 9,500 casualties from Iraq needing surgery including over 3000 amputations.In the same month a chief administrator at Baghdad airport stated that it had shipped out around 22,000 injured servicemen and women.In April 2004 the Veterans association stated that it had received 26,633 disability claims from servicemen returning from Iraq.Two months later on the Mcglochlin political show aired by CNN,discussion was on a casualty figure centred around 27,000.That in its own confirms the other statistics given above.From various blogs and articles from surgeons,doctors and medical staff,it seems they were dealing with around 50 casualties a day,somewhere in the region of 1,500 a month.Now here is where i have to start speculating and peice the information together as Sherlock Holmes would do.Since April 2004 Najaf exploded in violence twice and the same can be said for Fallujah each incident taking approximately a month to contain.Both Najaf and Fallujah caused extensive resistance not only too those areas but extended out to other areas in Iraq,so that from that, there would be an increase in casualties,i would put it at double the average,around 3,000 each for these 4 months totaling 12,000 casualties.From April 2004 to today January 2005 is ten months,using the template average of 1,500 casualties per month is 15,000 and adding a further 1,500 casualties per month for those four explosive months in Najaf and Fallujah gives a further 6,000.Therefore that leaves a total of 21,000 casualties from April 2004 to date,add that to the Veterans association figures of 26,633 casualties pre April 2004 giving a total of 48,000 casualties.Using a rough guide of 1 soldier killed for every 8 wounded gives a figure of 6,000 killed.
In my opinion the true casualty figures of Iraq is around 6,000 servicemen killed and 48,000 wounded.Totaling 54,000.If my figures are accurate then the pentagon is only reporting,making public 20% of the casualties.Many people will state this can not be possible.They cannot hide that ammount.Vietnam was a good reflection initially 6,000 Kia were reported later that rose to 58,000 and later a further 40,000 were deemed missing in action.So if Vietnam is anything to judge,then most certainly casualty figures are manipulated for public consumption.
